Our Earth at Flow Art Space

My sculpture "Fishology" will be in the show "Our Earth" at Flow Art Space in St Paul, MN

pARTicipation 2013

I will have an artist table at pARTicipation this year. I have been working on my center sculpture for about a month now.

Art & History Museums – Maitland presents an evening of art and amazements at Participation, Sideshow of the Senses.  The event is held on Saturday, April 6  at the A&H’s Maitland Art Center.
A VIP reception begins at 5:00 PM.  VIP ticket holders, which include event sponsors and corporate and friends table purchasers, will sit at select tables and mingle with celebrated local artists as they enjoy fine wines and hors d’oeuvres.  VIP guests are able to choose their artist table hosts.  At 6:00 PM, the main event begins!
Held under the stars and throughout the A&H’s beautiful Maitland Art Center campus, the stage is perfectly set for this Sideshow of the Senses, an interactive event that showcases local visual artists, fabulous food, and intriguing performances.  The campus comes to life, with every nook filled with art and activity. Guests will explore the grounds as they enjoy a progressive dining experience, featuring cuisine by celebrated local chef Jamie McFadden of Cuisiniers.  Sample an array of fine wines and beers at tasting centers throughout the campus. Art installation dining tables, created by our participating artists, offer guests a unique dining experience. Select artists will create works during the event, as they share their stories and insights. Our silent auction of artworks, donated by popular Central Florida artists, is sure to generate some lively bidding.  Performances by the talented Phatasmagoria entertainers from Empty Spaces Theatre Co(llaboration), under the direction of John DiDonna, will be held throughout the evening.  Guests are sure to be captivated by this troupe of fire-breathers, musicians, acrobats, and performers.  Adding to the excitement are a text message scavenger hunt, creation stations, a surreal photo booth, and more.

Just received word that my work was accepted into the Florida Sculptors Guild show at the Polasek Museum.

The show is called "From Start to Finish" so we have to show our processes.

And this is the finished piece I call it "The Coffee Table Book"

Studio at the Maitland Art Center

Here are some photos of my studio at the Maitland Art Center

United Arts Grant update

I see that I have not posted in a while. My last post was about the United Arts Grant...well I received it! Yey! I have secured a space at City Arts Factory for Jan/Feb of 2014. I have been in-visioning this show for months now. It is ripening in my brain. I see it as a museum exhibit of lost artifacts of an extinct civilization. I think it could be rather powerful to feel that the extinct civilization is our own.

I was also horned to be on the cover of the Orlando Arts Magazine.

UnitedArts Grant

I was very disciplined today and made great progress on my UnitedArts Grant proposal today, and a big thanks to my friend Fern Matthews for working her magic re-wording my Artist Statement. Fern is not only an amazing artist but a amazing wordsmith.

Orlando Public Library Displays
Orlando Public Library
Altered Books, Dawn Rosendahl
As the book becomes a thing of the past in this age of New Media, artist Dawn Rosendahl transforms books into lasting sculptures. She carves books like blocks of wood. Her altered books become surrealist works of art as the books tell new stories. Continents, countries, and highways in an atlas shift becoming other worlds, history books are rewritten, and words in an encyclopedia are mismatched and layered and have new meaning.

Dawn's Altered Books are displayed at the Orlando Public Library
throughout September and October:

1st Floor, Gallery near Children's entrance (1 case)
1st Floor, Children's Dept (2 cases)
1st Floor, Teen Club Central (1 case)
2nd Floor, Technology and Education Center (2 flat cases)
3rd Floor, Community Relations (1 case)
3rd Floor, Meeting Room Hall (1 case)
