UnitedArts Grant

I was very disciplined today and made great progress on my UnitedArts Grant proposal today, and a big thanks to my friend Fern Matthews for working her magic re-wording my Artist Statement. Fern is not only an amazing artist but a amazing wordsmith.

Altered Books, Dawn Rosendahl
As the book becomes a thing of the past in this age of New Media, artist Dawn Rosendahl transforms books into lasting sculptures. She carves books like blocks of wood. Her altered books become surrealist works of art as the books tell new stories. Continents, countries, and highways in an atlas shift becoming other worlds, history books are rewritten, and words in an encyclopedia are mismatched and layered and have new meaning.

Dawn's Altered Books are displayed at the Orlando Public Library
throughout September and October:

1st Floor, Gallery near Children's entrance (1 case)
1st Floor, Children's Dept (2 cases)
1st Floor, Teen Club Central (1 case)
2nd Floor, Technology and Education Center (2 flat cases)
3rd Floor, Community Relations (1 case)
3rd Floor, Meeting Room Hall (1 case)
